The line-up has been announced for a Dunfermline media showcase billed as “part ted talk, part careers fare.”
The event will take place at the Fire Station Creative from 6-9pm on November 7.
The purpose of the “Dunfermline Media City Showcase” is to provide the next generation of media workers with insight and inspiration from those who have already made their way in television, filmmaking, and the creative arts.
It is organised by local charity the Dunfermline Regeneration Trust. Chair Derek Glen said: "Dunfermline Media City is an idea which builds on our city status and gives an exciting vision of Dunfermline as a centre of excellence for people learning, training and working in Scotland’s film and television industry.
“The showcase will highlight the opportunities and successes we already have across the city, and the aim is to create more ways for people to collaborate and get involved without having to leave for London or further afield.”
The event includes a speech by actor and director David Izatt, who is the CEO of Dunfermline based Zoghogg studios. The company's latest movie “Skinjacker” premiered at Carnegie Hall in January.
There will also be a talk by film and television director Loucas George, who has credits in major productions such as Nashville and The Walking Dead.
Film Scotland’s Gail Robertson will cover the organisation’s new SQA accredited Film and Screen curriculum for Scotland.
Manager of Scotland’s Commonwealth Games eSports team James Hood will discuss opportunities in professional gaming and its use in education.
Leader of the employability team at Fife Council Kirsty Martin will look at Intern and Apprenticeship routes into the industry, and Comic expert Alby Grainger from Dunfermline’s Little Shop of Heroes will talk about the journey from page to screen.
The Dunfermline Press’s own content editor Ally McRoberts will also deliver a presentation about journalism. With 22 years at the paper under his belt you'd be hard pressed to find somebody with more experience in the City's media.
Tickets for the event are available on Eventbrite and the Dunfermline Regeneration Trust's website
