A number of roads in the West Fife area are set to see the speed limits cut to 20mph in November.

The speed on Queensferry Road will be reduced to 20mph from next month.

The restriction will be in place on Queensferry Rd from A985(T) Queensferry Roundabout to Primrose Roundabout; King's Rd (B980) from A985(T) King's Rd Roundabout northerly for approx. 300m; Castle Rd from A985(T) King's Rd Roundabout southerly for approx. 100m; Castlandhill Rd (B980) from A985(T) Queensferry Roundabout southeasterly for approx. 590m and the entire lengths of Dick PI, Bumey PI, Hamilton PI and Lowry PI.

This comes after Cllr Brian Goodall wanted to cut the speed limit on Admiralty Road due to the "number of accidents and near misses".

He backed proposals to slow down traffic on part of the A985, as well as Queensferry Road and Castlandhill Road.

In a previous post the SNP councillor explained: "For some time now, and following many complaints about speeding from local residents in Rosyth, I’ve been highlighting the need for reduced speed limits on some of the area’s main roads.

"In line with the Scottish Government policy to bring in more 20mph zones in urban areas, there is a plan to change a section of the A985 (Admiralty Road) trunk road through Rosyth to 20mph.

"There’s been a lot of concern about the speeds on this road, as well as the number of accidents and near misses, so I welcome this proposal."

The Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 is required in the interests of road safety and to compliment the 20mph speed limit being introduced by Transport Scotland on the trunk road.

It will be operational from November 1 for 18 months.
