A FRENCH volunteer will be joining forces with Poppy Scotland in Dunfermline this weekend as part of the organisation's annual appeal.
Martine Coruble, who is the President of " Les Bleuets" ( cornflowers) Association for the Seine-Maritime area of Normandy, will be collecting for her West Fife counterparts at Asda Halbeath on Saturday.
She lives in St Valery en Caux which is the site of a devastating battle and surrender of the 51st Highland Division who had become trapped in a small "pocket" as they retreated to the channel, hoping to be rescued by British ships waiting offshore.

Poor weather and relentless pressure from the German gunners on the cliffs meant that very few men escaped with most being killed or taken prisoners of war and marched to camps in Poland where they remained for four long years.
Martine is hoping to learn from Poppy Scotland's experienced team and see how ideas can be shared across the two organisations.
She added: "I am delighted to be taking part in the Poppy Scotland campaign in partnership, it is an honour."
