MP for Dunfermline and Dollar Graeme Downie has called on the Scottish Government to start building a new Kincardine Health Centre without delay.
It comes after the representative praised the UK Government’s budget proposals for 2025/2026.
Mr Downie said: “The additional £3.4 billion coming to Scotland as a consequence of the recent Labour budget, represents a chance for the SNP government to make amends to the people of Kincardine."
A report in 2016 confirmed that the current centre was not fit for purpose for reasons including a lack of disabled access, no storage and insufficient space.
The Scottish Government and NHS Fife agreed on a plan and funding for a new health centre in the village, but In March 2023, the Government announced they were delaying their funding until “the second half of the decade” because it was no longer viewed as a priority.
Residents said that they would “keep fighting” for a new centre.
Mr Downie continued: “For too long, local residents have had to wait for essential healthcare services which have been promised but never delivered. The Kincardine Health Centre is long overdue and much needed, there is no excuse for further dithering.
“It’s time to stop delaying and start building. I have today written to Scotland’s Health Secretary calling on him to allocate these necessary funds, and break ground on the new Kincardine Health Centre without further delay. These additional funds make it possible, now let’s make it happen.”
