WITH endless topping combinations, massive portions of fries and a big drinks selection, our reporters were spoiled with choice when they visited the newly-opened Five Guys in Dunfermline.
Located in the Fife Leisure Park, in the former Eastern Buffet, it's clear that the new Five Guys is in a great unit for those looking to stop in for a quick bite without having to ditch the car or pay for parking.
But with a lot of competition on their doorstep, we were curious about what sets Five Guys apart from the likes of McDonalds, Tim Hortons, and Smashburger.
Our answer? The fresh ingredients and customizability of your order.
The restaurant serves burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches- a pretty standard set-up for a fast food restaurant- but the great part is that you pay for your main, then you can add as many of the 15 available toppings for no charge.
Pair that with a fresh side of fries (regular or Cajun spiced) and wash it down with a soft drink, milkshake or even a beer.
The only downside is the price. This is a far cry from the cheap and easy 'saver menu' at some of your other favourite fast food outlets.
For two people to get a burger, chips and drink each, our bill came to £40.80. However, the portion sizes certainly reflect the price point. Our bags were half filled with overflow chips and you could definitely tell that all the ingredients were prepared right there in the store.
On top of that, the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. The staff were all happy to be there and quick to help.
The restaurant itself was the same as every other Five Guys in the UK, but it was clean and comfortable.
All in all, Five Guys is a brilliant option for those looking to go out and treat themselves to restaurant-quality food with that comforting fast food feel - but with the pricing, it's definitely not one for every day!
