A PEACEFUL demonstration for peace in Palestine is to be held in Dunfermline tomorrow.
Fife Stop the War Coalition is holding the event which will congregate at Viewfield Terrace at 11.45am before beginning the march at noon.
Lewis Akers of Fife Stop the War Coalition said: “We did three demonstrations last year and first one was in the start of November or end of October, and the first one we had about 300 people turn up.
“We had support from Dunfermline Mosque and support from local councillors and political parties and that was followed by a peaceful vigil.
“In terms of why it’s important, we set up our group last year in response to the aerial demonstration of Gaza and the invasion of Gaza by Israel.

“Our view was very much places like Dunfermline and Fife leave it up to the big cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow to take the lead, and we think it’s just as relevant to the people of Dunfermline to take a stance against war.”
Speakers at tomorrow’s event include an Imam from Kirkcaldy Mosque and a Jewish activist from Edinburgh.
The group was founded a year ago to oppose the genocide in Gaza and continue to stand against genocide and imperialism.
Lewis added: "Over 40,000 people have been murdered in Gaza in the last year throughout the Israeli Invasion of Gaza. This has now been widened out to Lebanon where we have seen innocent civilians killed in their thousands.
“The risk of this war spreading across the Middle East and wider is a real risk if people in Dunfermline and across the UK don't take a stand to demand an end to our government's complicity and an immediate ceasefire."
To allow the march to take place safely, East Port and High Street will be closed from 11.45am to 12.15pm tomorrow.
Access for emergency service vehicles and residents will be maintained.
