LOUIS THE Peacock is preparing to come home after there were fears that he could be put to sleep.

As previously reported in the Press, there were concerns regarding Louis’ health due to injuries stemming from the horrific attack at the aviary more than two years ago.

During the attack on May 30, 2022, the sanctuary was broken into. Louis suffered injuries to his leg and neck, while tragically, another peacock named Malcolm was beaten to death.

Recently, Louis fell and damaged his tailbone and was taken to the vets for treatment.

He was later taken back to the vets and was not in great shape. For a time, he was not eating well.

Yet, the Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park Facebook page posted on October 30 that his bloods were improving.

Then good news came yesterday when the volunteers with the peacocks posted that Louis would now be coming home.

“His bloods have improved again today, and he’s coming home tomorrow!!! Suzi and I will collect him around 5pm and bring him back where he belongs for as many cuddles as he can handle!!

“Your support truly means the world to all of us and we are forever grateful. With many people asking and our vet bills making Suzi cry.

“We have decided to set up a go fund me to help us give our boy, the best Dunfermline and beyond can give. Love Suzi, Carlyn and Team Louis.”

A GoFundMe page has now been set up to give Louis the life he deserves. His vet bills are over £3000, he has ongoing medication needs, and modifications will need to be made to the sanctuary for him.

The fundraiser is currently sitting at £2,420.
