The volunteers with the peacocks in Pittencrieff Park have revealed their plans for Louis’ future.
As previously reported in the Press, there were concerns regarding Louis’ health due to injuries stemming from the horrific attack at the aviary more than two years ago.
During the attack on May 30, 2022, the sanctuary was broken into. Louis suffered injuries to his leg and neck, while tragically, another peacock named Malcolm was beaten to death.
Carlyn Cane, one of the volunteers with the peacocks, said: “Louis has been discharged from hospital following an eight day admission for infection, liver problems, and anaemia.
“He was tube fed and received IV antibiotics after his blood results were showing no improvement following oral antibiotics at home. He also received x-rays, which showed his femur has lost a lot of bone density in the leg that was initially injured in the attack.
“He has arthritis in all his joints and loss of full movement in his right leg, but he is now feeling much better and back in the nursery.

“He will be weighed daily, and is receiving four different medications, morning and night. The volunteers have been great at ensuring he is spoilt and well looked after, and he now has a new heater, a comfy bed, and lots of cuddles.
"The support from the public has been incredible as always, Louis truly has stolen the hearts of so many and we have followers from all over the world who have followed his journey since May 2022.
“The donations that have poured in will ensure we can continue to plan for his future care needs as he will never be able to free roam.]
“We are working alongside Fife Council and The Caledonia group in planning a new enclosure just for him and hope to have this in place in the new year.”
A GoFundMe page was set up to raise funds to support Louis, and it is currently sitting at £3,375.
