A former restaurant in Dunfermline could be turned into a hotel facility.

The former Crooked Glen Brewers Fayre, situated next to the Premier Inn hotel in Fife Leisure Park, is set to undergo a partial conversion, with planned external alterations and other associated works.

The proposal follows the restaurant's closure to the public in July when it was announced it would be used solely for hotel patrons.

The current site includes a 78-bedroom Premier Inn hotel alongside the Brewers Fayre restaurant, both managed by Whitbread.

The redevelopment plans will increase the hotel's capacity to 92 bedrooms, while maintaining the current provision of 116 shared car parking spaces.

Access to the site will continue to be from Whimbrel Place.

The application, which is set for public consultation on November 12, was submitted to Fife Council, citing increased demand for budget hotel accommodation in the area.

The supporting letter to the application states: "Premier Inn has identified a considerable demand for additional budget hotel accommodation in this location.

"It is also acting to reconfigure its offerings to ensure it best fits the needs of customers."

The proposed changes, the letter states, will meet Premier Inn’s operational requirements and address the identified demand for its service.

The report accompanying the application further outlines the financial rationale for the development, highlighting the current demand at the site.

The supporting letter states that the proposed alterations are expected to: "facilitate sustainable tourism and benefit local people".
