FIFE Council are on track to complete a new cycleway at Crossgates at a cost of £70,000.
Work is underway on the "active travel path extension" - which will also be shared with pedestrians - at the south end of the village.
A £600,000 footpath and cycleway was constructed along the east side of the B981 road between Crossgates and Fordell Firs in 2021.
And a council spokesperson explained: "It stopped just short of the landscaped area opposite the football ground in Crossgates.
"At the time, there were requests for the path to be extended further into the Crossgates but, unfortunately, subsurface services prevented this from happening."

BT engineers completed their work which enabled the council's contractor to start construction of the path extension, which will add a further 250 metres to the 3km route, last week.
The shared pedestrian / cycle track will be around three metres wide and will include a 500mm 'safety strip'.
It will help walkers and cyclists to link into quieter rural roads, as well as connecting to core paths, and there is potential to extend the path further in the future.
It's estimated that the extension will take 30 working days to complete.
