A COMMUNITY sports facility has now been unveiled following its transformation from an unused pitch.
High Valleyfield Community Sports Hub used funding from Fife Environmental Trust and Scottish Power to take the previously discarded synthetic pitch and turn it into the state-of-the-art sports facility.
The hub is now fully community-operated with a committee responsible for managing and maintaining the facilities under a 25-year lease with Fife Council.
Robert Potter, chairperson of High Valleyfield Community Sports Hub, said: “Firstly, we would like to thank Fife Council, Fife Environmental Trust and Scottish Power.
“Although this has been a lengthy process, it has all been worth it to see how popular the facility is with all members of the local community as well as the local primary school.
“As a committee, we now have the task of managing and maintaining the facility with the support of the local community and partners like Fife Council.”

The hub is already in full use, with pupils at St Serf’s Primary School using the pitch for physical education and afterschool activities.
Local side Valleyfield FC has gained a nearby training space and the Coalfield Regeneration Trust offers free football sessions for P3 to P7 pupils on Wednesday afternoons.
Cllr Linda Erskin, strategic spokesperson for communities and leisure services, added: “Transforming this space into a vibrant community sports hub is a remarkable achievement, driven by the dedication of local volunteers and the strong backing of Fife Council, Fife Environmental Trust and Scottish Power.
“It’s inspiring to see the community come together to create such positive opportunities for children, young people and adults to stay active, develop new skills and connect with each other.
“This hub is a fantastic addition to High Valleyfield.”
