THE last push for this year's Poppy Appeal in Dunfermline will take place this weekend with thousands already having been raised around the city.

The annual fundraising has seen volunteers out collecting at an array of events and venues with local businesses also getting on board with the Poppy Tree initiative in the High Street.

Poppyscotland's volunteer area organiser for Dunfermline, Christine Evans, has been delighted with the support which continues to be shown.

"Last Saturday we were collecting at the football club and I think we collected about £700 which was really good.

"We have got the help of a fabulous team of volunteers."

"We have done that for a few years now," added Christine. "So far the trees have generated about £2,000 worth of donations. We ask local businesses if they would like to support the poppy tree appeal and have got regular companies that do that every year which is very generous
