THERE are plans for a new drive-thru Starbucks in Dalgety Bay.

The Adil Group, based in London, have also applied to build a drive-thru restaurant on The Gateway development to the north of Ridge Way, in Hillend Industrial Estate.

If approved, the two new units would fill a vacant spot on the same retail park as Aldi, Greggs, Domino's, Specsavers, Subway and Screwfix and create around 40-50 jobs.

As well as a new drive-thru café and drive-thru restaurant, the plans include access roads, parking, electric vehicle charging spaces, outdoor seating and landscaping.

Planning permission was previously granted in 2021 for a Costa's coffee shop and gym on the site, across the road from Asda, but they didn't progress.

A statement on behalf of the Adil Group said: "The proposed coffee shop unit will be occupied by Starbucks.

"The applicant is currently in dialogue with a number of operators to occupy the second unit.

"The development proposals include a total provision of 45 parking spaces, inclusive of four mobility impaired standard bays and six electric vehicle (EV) charging bays, to serve both units."

The applicants said that around 20-25 jobs will be created by Starbucks and "a similar amount" from the second unit.

They added that it is "intended for the drive-thru units to be operational 24 hours" a day.

The statement went on: "The application site is located on undeveloped ground at the south-western corner of a partially completed commercial development known as ‘The Gateway’.

"Aldi is located in the north-west corner of the site with a parade of shops found to the east which include a Screwfix, Specsavers and Greggs.

"The site has been vacant for a number of years and will complete the final piece of this development site.

"Due to the small scale nature of the proposed drive-thru units, it will act as an ancillary use in the context of the wider retail / commercial function of the site."

The Adil Group described themselves as “one of the largest family owned quick service restaurant operators in the UK”.

They currently own and operate over 113 KFCs, 18 Burger Kings, more than 50 Costa Coffee units, more than 28 Taco Bells, and an Anytime Fitness Gym across the country.
