Strictly judge and professional dancer Anton Du Beke has told of his excitement to be returning to Dunfermline.

Anton will be kicking off his new nationwide tour this Christmas in the city’s very own Alhambra Theatre.

The show, Christmas with Anton & Friends, will see Anton joined by singer Lance Ellington, as well as a live band and a company of dancers to create an evening filled with song, dance and festive cheer.

Speaking on how the show came about, Anton told the Press: “I’ve wanted to do a Christmas show forever, I’ve been doing panto for the last few years, but the problem is with the panto, as much fun and wonderful as it is, it just takes me away from the children for too long.

“The children are seven, and I realised I was missing all of Christmas with the children, so I had a word with Michael who runs all the pantomimes at crossroads, he’s absolutely wonderful, and asked if he wouldn’t mind me dipping out the next couple of years.”

With his Christmas tour kicking off just shortly, and with dates across Edinburgh, Dublin, Belfast, and London to name just a few, the Strictly judge has a busy period ahead of him.

He is also a father to young twins and the family has recently gained two new members, dogs called Fox and Trot.

“It’s just joy! I never have a five-minute break in my life where I go ‘Oh I’ll have a sit down and have a cup of tea’. It’s not as easy as that.

“It’s children and dogs and they’re still young. I’m waiting for that time where the dogs are old enough that they just flop in front of the fire and we can all just relax, but no-one seems to want to relax at the moment.

“Everyone’s going at 100 miles per hour, children, dogs, wife, me, but it’s great!”

Anton has performed at The Alhambra Theatre before and is excited to be returning to Scotland’s newest city.

He added: “I’ve been to the Alhambra many times and it’s always great, the audiences in Dunfermline are fantastic, so I’m looking forward to coming up.

“I just love being in Scotland, I’m a keen golfer and my favourite place in the world to play golf is in Scotland.

“I’ve been to Scotland many times, I really, really like Scotland, you’ve got to sort your weather out, if you sort your weather out, I’d come up even more!

“It is wonderful up there so I’m looking forward to coming up and opening my Christmas tour up in Scotland and with Dunfermline.”

Speaking about how this year’s Strictly Come Dancing celebrity contestants are getting on, he commented: “They are on it like a car bonnet, they are super, super good! It’s really exciting to watch the show this year from where I’m sat.”

He also described this year’s show as “brilliant!”

Christmas with Anton & Friends is coming to the Alhambra on Sunday, November 24.

When asked to sum up the show, Anton stated: “Absolute joy! Massively Christmas! Completely Christmas! All of those words.”
