PUPILS at Dunfermline High School teamed up to create a superhero-themed film to promote Anti-Bullying Week.
S1 students from the art and design class partnered up with fifth-year Alexander Staff to make a film as part of the school’s support to the campaign, led by respectme,
Three first-year art classes took part in the film, which featured the pupils dressed as superheroes and villains as a way of expressing their views and feelings about bullying.
The finished video shows the supervillains taunting and mocking pupils, before the heroes save the day by defeating their foes.
Marie Maclachlan, art, design and photography teacher at Dunfermline High School, said: “I was absolutely thrilled to hear that our S1 artists and Alexander Staff were successful in being the respectme film partner for Anti-Bullying Week.

“This accolade reflects the creativity, endeavour and teamwork invested by everyone involved and I am super proud of their interpretation of such an important issue that effects many young people across the country.
“The film’s positive ethos on how we can respectfully help others was decided following group discussion, which resulted in an exciting script to be filmed.
“This film was made by young people for young people and that’s really special.”
Anti-Bullying Week took place across Scotland from Monday, November 11 to Friday, November 15
The theme of the 2024 campaign was Respect – What Does It Mean To You? and aimed to encourage pupils to talk to each other about preventing bullying.

Research provided showed that 31 per cent of children from P5 to S3 experienced bullying, highlighting the importance of the campaign.
Lorraine Glass, respectme director, added: “Anti-Bullying Week is a fantastic opportunity to showcase great examples anti-bullying policy and practice being led by schools in Scotland, as well as reinforcing the message that bullying is never acceptable and is not an inevitable part of growing up.
“I’d like to personally thank our official film partners at Dunfermline High School for their hard work and creativity.
“I’m sure the anti-bullying video they produced will have helped many other young people and has been really useful for informing and supporting the important conversations held throughout the campaign.”
