A SEVENTEEN-year-old youth has been airlifted to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after being hit by a vehicle in Dunfermline.
The accident happened around 2.30pm on Pittsburgh Road and an air ambulance landed near Fife College.
The helicopter touched down just after 3pm and police officers closed a section of the road, outside Carnegie Primary School.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 2.24pm today to attend an incident on Pittsburgh Road in Dunfermline.
"We dispatched one ambulance, our trauma team and an air ambulance to the scene. We airlifted one male teenage patient to New Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
It took off around 3.45pm.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 2.30pm on Thursday, November 21, we received a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a 17-year-old male on Pittsburgh Road, Dunfermline.
"He has been taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing."
