Dunfermline Athletic have advised their fans not to travel to Ayr United this afternoon - but the SPFL Championship match is still scheduled to go ahead.

The Pars are due to visit Somerset Park but have urged supporters who were planning on making the journey to reconsider due to the impact of Storm Bert.

Weather warnings are in place across the country for snow and ice, and it has brought disruption to travel, with the roads particularly affected.

The Queensferry Crossing has been closed in both directions, with traffic diverted on to the Forth Road Bridge, due to falling ice, whilst traffic on the M8 at junction three, near Livingston, is "moving extremely slow" after "several vehicles" lost traction in the snow.

It is understood that the Athletic team bus has had its journey to Ayr impacted by the weather, and that two supporters clubs have decided not to run their buses to the match.

In a post on social media, the club said: "With the current severe weather conditions in and around Fife, and with a duty of care to our fans, #DAFC are advising supporters against traveling to Ayr for this afternoon’s match."

The game, however, is still scheduled to go ahead as it stands.

Ayr United earlier said that, whilst they would be keeping an eye on travelling conditions, there were "no immediate concerns as the pitch is handling the current heavy rain well and the forecast suggests that the weather will improve as we head into the afternoon".

There have been a raft of call-offs in relation to the adverse weather, with Kelty Hearts' League One match with Arbroath being postponed this morning due to snow following a 10.30am pitch inspection.

In the Championship, Airdrieonians against Livingston, and Greenock Morton versus Partick Thistle, are both off, as are League One matches between Alloa Athletic and Dumbarton, Cove Rangers and Stenhousemuir, and Queen of the South and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

In League Two, Bonnyrigg Rose versus Stirling Albion, Elgin City against Clyde, and The Spartans against Stranraer, are also off.

The East of Scotland Football League card has also fallen victim to the weather, as have Dunfermline Rugby Club's senior men's first and second XV's games at Greenock Wanderers and Kirkcaldy second XV.
