A NUMBER of families are being represented by a law firm after a Dunfermline childminder was charged in relation to offences of neglect and cruelty.
The 53-year-old, who was registered to look after a maximum of eight children from her home in the city, was arrested by police in August.
She has yet to appear in court although prosecutors have received a report which is currently under consideration.
The law firm Irwin Mitchell said it has been "instructed to represent a number of clients" who are involved in the case while Fife Council have pledged their help as the allegations are fully investigated.

In a separate move, the Care Inspectorate confirmed that the childminder's registration has been cancelled.
And a spokesperson said: "The Care Inspectorate is aware that this matter is now before the courts and we are unable to comment on it."
The Crown Office wasn't able to comment on a live case but confirmed that a report in relation to the case had been received and was currently under consideration.
Head of education and children's services, Shelagh McLean, said that Fife Council are aware of the matter and "will assist the relevant authorities with their investigations".
At the time of the arrest a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On Monday, August 26 police attended a property in the Tolmount Drive area of Dunfermline.
“A 53-year-old woman was charged in connection with Section 12 of the Children and Young Persons Act.
“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal and she is expected to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court at a later date.”
Section 12 of the act is the legislation used to prosecute offences of neglect and cruelty to persons under the age of 16.
Contacted this week, the police said they had nothing further to add.
