The National Trust for Scotland is encouraging people to visit Culross this winter.

The conservation charity has said that the village, which is cared for by the trust, is the "perfect setting for a memorable Christmas adventure while offering an escape from the hectic festive season."

Visitors can enjoy food and drink at Bessie's Café and browse the Townhouse shop for festive gifts.

The shop is open Friday to Monday, 10am to 3.45pm, until December 23, and will close for the festive period until January 16, 2025.

Bessie's Café is open daily, 10am to 4pm, until December 23, and will close for the festive period until January 6, 2025.

The palace and garden are currently closed.

Stuart Maxwell, National Trust for Scotland’s regional director, said: "We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to our special places this winter season, where there is an array of activities and events happening, suitable for all ages and interests.

"Our places offer the perfect setting to create treasured memories with loved ones to last a lifetime and there is something for everyone to enjoy.

"Whether it’s fun family days out in our gardens, adventurous experiences with friends at our countryside locations, entertaining guided tours of the historic houses in our care, or shopping for last-minute gifts, we have you covered this Christmas.

"It’s thanks to our members and supporters for their ongoing generosity that we’re able to continue our work to enhance and protect Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage now and for future generations to enjoy."
