DUNFERMLINE football starlet Caroline Weir is gunning for future success after she sealed a dream move to Arsenal.
The 18-year-old completed the switch from Hibs last week, alongside Scotland team-mate Emma Mitchell, and immediately made her mark, scoring twice on her debut in a 4-0 win over Coventry City Ladies and hitting a hat-trick in a 10-0 demolition of West Ham United.
Arsenal are the most successful club in English women's football, having won the league 14 times and FA Women's Cup on 12 occasions, and boast a number of English and Scottish internationals.
Proud dad Lindsay, of Perdieus Mount, said the move was reward for her hard work and that it was "pretty exciting" for the whole family as she is also set to start university next month.
He said, "Caroline has worked hard and the various sacrifices she has had to make growing up have paid off. It is a big move for her and the next challenge as Arsenal are full of well known internationals with England and Scotland and not many players at 18 get signed by the bigger clubs.
"But she has played for the Scotland A squad against Germany and Iceland so it's all about improving her fitness and conditioning to match the physicality of that level. She has played a couple of games, scoring twice in one and then she had a hat-trick so the ability is there.
"She's been down there for three to four weeks and has been able to get to grips with the football without the pressure of university on top of it, which will come in the next few weeks.
"It is pretty exciting and she has always dreamed of the opportunity to play for a big club like Arsenal. Hopefully, she'll grab it with both hands, or feet as the case may be!"
Arsenal Ladies manager, former Scotland under-19 coach Shelley Kerr, said, "In Emma and Caroline, Arsenal have secured two players of outstanding quality.
"I worked with them both while I was with the Scottish FA and know just how talented they are. Caroline is a smart, creative player with an eye for a pass and a good shot.
"They're both left-footed players, which will help the balance of the team, and I've no doubt they'll fit in well with the group of players we've got here at Arsenal Ladies."
