Former Queen of the South boss Johnston was appointed Dunfermline manager last summer on a one year contract after leaving his post at Kilmarnock.
His first season in charge has been a huge success as his Pars team have cantered to promotion to the Championship, sealing the deal with five games remaining.
Johnston's side have won 23 of their 35 games ahead of Saturday's final match with Peterhead, scoring an astonishing 82 goals in the process.
