A RISING Pitreavie golf star’s parents could not be more proud of their son after he was crowned Fife Boys’ Order of Merit champion.
Jack Lockhart, of Pitreavie Golf Club, was runner-up in last year’s rankings but he has gone one better this year, acquiring 420 points on his way to victory.
His mum, Jackie, is “extremely proud” of her 16-year-old son’s efforts this season, 11 years after he started playing in her back garden.
“He used to swing little plastic clubs out the back before going to lessons in Leven.
“He’s always had an eye for it.
“He has made continued progress and he was delighted to win the title this year.“
Jack wants to become a professional golfer.
“While me and his dad have our eyes set on universities as the second-choice option!
“I think he would like to go to either St Andrews or Stirling for the golf links they both offer.
“He’s driven his own success and we’ve done all we can to support him, including being a taxi service! It’s up to him now. He has the ability. We’re just both extremely proud of what he has achieved.”
His Pitreavie team-mate Callum Leeson, also made the top ten, finishing in fifth place with a total of 293 points.
