ATHLETIC forward Kevin Nisbet has completed a move to Premiership side Hibernian, it has been announced this morning.
The 23-year-old has signed a four-year contract at Easter Road after a compensation package was agreed between the clubs last night.
Nisbet has been the subject of intense speculation following a superb season at East End since joining from Raith Rovers last summer, but it is Jack Ross' Hibees who have won the race for his signature.
In just 32 appearances, he scored 23 goals for the Pars, and was the subject of failed, six-figure bids from both Hibs and Dundee United in January.
He continued to attract interest from both sides of the border this summer, with Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town having been linked with a move.
United had further offers rebuffed and, while it was suggested Hearts - under the charge of ex-Tannadice boss Robbie Neilson - had made a last-ditch bid, Nisbet has moved to Leith.
Speaking to Hibernian's website, he said: "I’m proud to be a Hibernian player and I’m grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity.
"It’s a new challenge for me and I’m confident – with the help of the staff here – that I can continue to improve as a player and help the team.
"I’ve been working hard on my fitness during the break and I can’t wait to get going."
Their manager, Jack Ross, a former Dunfermline player alongside coach John Potter, commented: "We’re delighted to have Kevin on board. It’s a position that we wanted to strengthen in and if you look at his profile, and where he is in his career, then I think it’s a really good fit for both parties.
"I’m excited by it. We were keen to get him in in January so we’re all pleased to get it over the line now."
The Pars themselves added: "Dunfermline Athletic wish to announce the departure of Kevin Nisbet to Hibernian FC following a mutually-agreed compensation arrangement being negotiated by both clubs.
"We wish Kevin every success in the future and thank him for his efforts over the last season at East End Park. He goes with the best wishes of everyone at our club."
Press Sport understands that their could be further incomings to East End soon following Nisbet's departure.
Stevie Crawford has already added Steven Whittaker and Paul Watson so far this summer.
