Rosyth Sharks 22 Crieff and Strathearn 19, Caledonia Midlands Region League, Division Three
ROSYTH SHARKS secured their first league win of the season after edging out Crieff and Strathearn at Harley Street on Saturday.
The West Fifers had been beaten 46-7 by Bannockburn in their opening fixture the previous weekend, but got the better of a visiting side that had won their first match against Strathmore second XV.
The match was played under 'Game On' principles, with each team fielding 13 players over two 30 minute periods, and the hosts went into the break seven points to five ahead.
Sharks then added 15 more after half-time, with Crieff and Strathearn managing one less, to secure their first victory of the campaign.
Head coach, Mark Love, commented: "It was good to get the win.
"It was unfortunate that the game was played under 'Game On' principles with 13-a-side. It meant that I had a few guys that couldn't get a game due to having to drop the two flankers, which was very frustrating for them.
"We still have a bit to work on and improve. We had numerous opportunities to score and were unable to convert, which allowed Crieff to stay in the game and keep it close.
"They were up for it, and had a few useful players, however it was a game where we should have come away with the bonus point if we had just been more clinical."
This Saturday, Sharks are at home once more when they host Grangemouth Stags second XV, with kick off at 3pm.
