Rosyth Sharks 47 Grangemouth Stags seconds 5, Caledonia Midlands Region League, Division Three
ROSYTH SHARKS are up to third place in the league after recording a second successive victory on Saturday.
Grangemouth Stags second XV visited Harley Street and had no answer to Mark Love's team, who racked up a 47-5 success that also handed them their first try-scoring bonus point of the campaign.
Following a heavy 46-7 loss at early pacesetters Bannockburn, the Sharks responded with a 22-19 win over Crieff and Strathearn last time out, a match that was played under 'Game On' principles, with each team fielding 13 players over two 30-minute periods.
There was a full complement on both sides this time around and Sharks, who head to bottom side Bo'ness, who have yet to register a point, this weekend, now sit third in the early season standings.
"It was good to back up the win from the previous week," Love said.
"We got a good few tries on the board. Grangemouth didn't come through with their strongest team - they had a couple of guys from Alloa helping them out - but they had a full 18, 19, so it was a full game we were playing.
"Where we had errors the week before, the players turned it around, put the opposition under pressure to stop them scoring, and, going forward, put the structure into practice and got the tries on the board.
"There's still a bit to work on but, certainly, there were more positives than negatives from Saturday's performance.
"Confidence-wise, it's good to go from a game that was tight the week before to having what I'd say was a convincing win this week. Hopefully we can take that into the game this weekend.
"Looking at their results, they've not fared particularly well in the first three games, but they're on home turf, so you can only play what's in front of you. We'd like to take the confidence from the last two into this and hopefully get a result.
"Certainly, points-wise, we're sitting where we want to be in the league, in the top half."
Saturday's match kicks off at 3pm.
