DUNFERMLINE chairman and CEO David Cook has apologised to supporters and said the club are "disappointed" following the postponement of this afternoon's match with Airdrieonians.

This morning, the Pars have confirmed that the SPFL Championship game won't go ahead due to water accumulating on the pitch following a failure in KDM Group East End Park's undersoil heating system.

A pitch inspection was called for 10am, of which the club said: "Due to what appears to be a failure in the undersoil heating system a large amount of water is currently sitting on the pitch.

An inspection of the playing surface subsequently took place, and the game has been cancelled, with a rearranged date to be confirmed in due course.

On the club's social media, Cook is quoted as saying: "Firstly we'd like to apologise to any supporters inconvenienced by today's postponement.

"We are disappointed not to be able to host this afternoon's match however I was informed this morning by the grounds team of a suspected failure of the undersoil heating system along the south stand touchline. As a result a large amount of water has pooled causing significant flooding to an area of the pitch.

"The grounds team are working on identifying and resolving the problem as soon as possible. We will keep supporters updated on the condition of the pitch and will share details of the rearranged fixture date in due course.”
