PARS new boy Malachi Fagan-Walcott has described his previous time in Scotland as a learning experience and believes he's back as a better player.

The 21-year-old centre back became the club's first, and so far, only, signing of the January transfer window 13 days ago when he signed on loan from Cardiff City until the end of the season.

Former Tottenham Hotspur youth product Fagan-Walcott, who made his top team debut for the North London club in a Champions League tie at RB Leipzig in 2020, has been reunited with James McPake and his assistant manager, Dave Mackay, who took him to Dundee three years ago.

Although his loan move to Dens Park had to be cut short because of injury, the player believes it was an invaluable experience - and gave him an insight into life at KDM Group East End Park.

Dunfermline Press:

"I was at Dundee with a few of the boys. I spoke to them before coming here, just to get an insight of it all, and they helped my decision to come," he told Press Sport.

"When I got here, they were all very welcoming. I spoke to Alex (Jakubiak), then I spoke to the gaffer, and then I just Fish (Sam Fisher) a message. That was about it and I was on my way.

"They help out a lot, just introducing me to the other boys as well. I think they told some of the boys about it before I got here, so they knew what to expect as well."

Reflecting on his time at Dundee, Fagan-Walcott continued: "Unfortunately, I got injured, but I still learned a lot when I was there, like how to deal with the cold!

"It was just as I started to get a run of games as well so, it was disappointing, but I was young at the time. There was things I didn't do that, now, I would do.

"I came at the same time, in January, so there was a lot of games called off as well, and I didn't really look after myself as well, but I was 18 at the time.

"Now, if there's games called off, I know what to do to prevent it, and that would've just been a learning curve at Dundee.

"I'm one hundred per cent a better player. I have more knowledge of the game, I'm stronger, growing more of a man, got a better mindset, so 100 per cent."
