JAMES MCPAKE has not ruled the possibility of further signing activity at Dunfermline before the transfer deadline passes tomorow evening.

The Pars boss has added two fresh faces to his squad this month but said no doors are closed in relation to the potential for more.

Blackpool forward, Brad Holmes, joined on loan until the end of the season on Tuesday after central defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott, who made his debut in Saturday's draw at Dundee United, arrived on a similar arrangement from Cardiff City earlier in the month.

Clubs in Scotland have until 11.30pm tomorrow evening (Thursday) to get any last minute deals over the line, but sides in the SPFL Championship, League One and League Two can still make loan moves in February - provided they are from fellow Scottish teams in a higher division.

Dunfermline Press:

"I'm not sure," was McPake's response to Press Sport this week when asked if there could be further movement at KDM Group East End Park before the January transfer window closes.

"We'll wait and see what develops over the next 24 hours and if there's anything that we can do in the meantime, we will, if not, then we'll see what happens in February."

McPake, who watched on as Dunfermline fielded two trialists that he said they were "taking a look at" during a reserve match with Queen's Park on Tuesday, is reported to be running the rule over ex-Rangers winger, Josh McPake, in training.

He was, however, pleased to report he had no fresh injury concerns following the stalemate at Tannadice.

With Fagan-Walcott making his bow, and the likes of Sam Fisher, Ewan Otoo and Lewis McCann returning from spells out, his squad was much stronger than it had been for their previous outing three weeks prior, which was a defeat to Queen's Park.

In-form Greenock Morton, who have moved to fourth in the Championship table, five points clear of the Pars, following a nine-game unbeaten league run, visit East End on Saturday.

""Everybody's alright from that (the United game). That's the first we've said in a while from a game that everybody's come through it," McPake continued.

"The training week, so far, has been good, with no new injuries.

"Aaron Comrie's wife had a baby, so Aaron's missed a couple of days in his rehab, but he's coming along really well. It's looking good at the minute and the injuries are picking up.

"I've always got that worry in the back of my head. It's been one of those seasons - you never know when the next one's coming, so I'll not hold my breath when we're talking about injuries!

"It'll be tough against Morton. They're on a very good run. Credit to Dougie (Imrie, Morton manager), his staff and players. When we went down there and we beat them in the live TV game (2-1 in November), they hadn't won in a few and, fair play to Dougie, he's got them going and they're on a terrific run.

"We know how tough a test it's going to be. We've faced them twice this season and we need a performance of the level of Saturday, with hopefully being a bit more clinical at top end of the pitch as a team.

"I think Dougie will not be looking back on the 10 games (in all competitions) they're unbeaten or anything like that. They'll be looking at this game, just taking it as a stand alone game. I think in this league that's what you've got to do. It's a tough, tough league.

"It can turn on a performance or a result and we need to try and do that quickly and get back to winning ways. Hopefully that's this Saturday."
