DUNFERMLINE Carnegie Hockey Club's men's and women's teams had contrasting fortunes during a busy weekend of matches.
Whilst there were two wins and a draw for three of the men's teams, the ladies teams suffered three defeats from four outings.
On Saturday, the men's twos hosted University of St Andrews Hockey Club men's twos at Woodmill High School in a Scottish Hockey Men's Regional League Two fixture, and enjoyed a 4-1 success.
With their fourth win of the season, they sit fifth in the table with 15 points from 11 matches played, ahead of a visit to Uddingston Hockey Club men's twos this weekend.
The men's thirds were 3-1 winners at Grange sixes in East District Division Two, whilst the fours drew 2-2 with EHC twos in Division Three.
In Scottish Hockey Women's Championship One, Carnegie ladies firsts drew 0-0 with Kinross Hockey Club ladies ones, leaving them sixth in the standings, with one win and two draws from nine matches played so far.
The ladies seconds, sponsored by Production Bureau, hosted Watsonian fours in a Women's East District Division Two match, but lost 3-0.
Two quick goals in the opening quarter put Carnegie on the back foot, but they regrouped and came close to finding a goal of their own in the second.
Their attacking momentum continued in the second half, but their opponents found the net once more to seal victory. Emily Gillespie and Eva O'Neill were jointly named MVP (most valuable player).
The ladies thirds played two matches, one on Saturday, the other on Sunday, in Division Four, but were defeated in both.
In the first, they hosted WIT seconds and started well in the opening quarter, creating some good chances, but solid defending denied them.
The game remained scoreless and in the balance moving into the final quarter, but the visitors opened the scoring and, despite Carnegie pressure, they held out victory.
Fiona McPhie was named MVP.
On Sunday, the thirds took on Preston Lodge twos and, after falling behind in the second quarter, levelled in the third.
However, two goals from the visitors saw the victory head home with the visitors.
