ABERDOUR Shinty Club's men's first team fell to their second loss of the Mowi South Division One season at Lochside Rovers on Saturday.
Having won their previous two matches, after an opening day defeat at Ballachulish, Lisa MacColl's side were undone by the league leaders, who maintained their 100 per cent record after four matches.
The travelling West Fifers were shorn of five of their regular players and goals from Lewis Buchanan and Iain Duffy saw them trail by two goals at the interval.
Ruairidh Buchanan added a third for Oban-based Lochside in the 58th minute, but 'Dour's efforts were rewarded late on when Joe Burns grabbed a consolation goal.
Head coach, and club founder, MacColl said: "We were missing five regular players and, suddenly, you've got a lot of young boys, with a couple of experienced heads, playing away from home.
"It was a difficult game. We did create some good chances but maybe we just didn't have enough pressure. In the second half, although they got another one, we scored and created a good few chances.
"In the first half we didn't quite get into the game as we'd hoped, but they learned as they went along. In the second half, they stepped up and learned to be more assertive.
"The good thing was that we had a wee chat at half-time, and then they went out and did what we asked them to do, which was great.
"This season has to be about rebuilding the team and gaining experience. While it was difficult, there's a lot we can take from the game, and there's stuff that will stand us in better stead for the rest of the season."
Aberdour's firsts are not scheduled to return to action until April 20, at home to Glasgow Mid Argyll, before taking on Inverarary in the Camanachd Cup a week later.
In Mowi South Division Two, Aberdour's seconds, who have drawn four and lost one of their first five matches, saw their scheduled home match with Inveraray seconds postponed due to an unplayable field at Silver Sands.
Their next match will also be on April 20, away to Tayforth.
On Sunday, Aberdour ladies travelled north to face Inverness and, with a very young squad, put up a good performance desptie losing out by a 3-0 scoreline.
Their next Women's Camanachd Association Mowi National Division match is also scheduled to take place on April 20, away to Glenurquhart.
