DUNFERMLINE Tennis Club is "buzzing" in anticipation of a busy year ahead after they served up an action-packed and entertaining open day on Saturday.
The Bothwell Street courts were opened up to members and non-members alike to take part in fun tennis, cardio tennis and pickleball - a sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis - sessions, and to find out more about the club from its coaches.
"The club was buzzing all afternoon," said head coach Mike Russell.
"We had roughly about 60 people there throughout the afternoon, and I think we had 40 bookings before the day.
"There were a lot of younger kids on court at the same time, which was great. We've had some new members from that. We had the new (coaching) block starting on Monday, so we've had some new bookings on to the junior programme, which is great.
"The cardio tennis went well. The two kids classes that were on before that, the one with the younger kids, the mini fun and games with Alan (Russell, club coach), was great; and then we had the junior fun and games with the slightly older kids.
"There was a bigger group of them because we had maybe two or three kids who were already members who had brought three or four of their mates each. There was maybe about 12-15 kids in that second group which made it really good fun.
"The kids were really enjoying themselves. They had the music playing throughout the afternoon and it was just a great atmosphere and really good fun.
"It was a brilliant day all round."
Mike, who took over from dad Alan as the club's head coach in January, added: "We're definitely seeing the growth from it. The club's in a really healthy state at the moment.
"We're expecting to have maybe just over 100 juniors on Saturday, which is the first Saturday of the summer block, which is always an important time of the year for us.
"The club's absolutely buzzing just now so I'm really happy with it."

Meanwhile, the club have received a donation of £750 from popular city centre eatery, Dhoom.
On their Facebook page, Dhoom said they were "honoured to support Dunfermline Tennis Club" and expressed their thanks to the club "for the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause".
