BUZZING Ben Finnan said that lifting a trophy is a feeling he couldn't describe and that doing it with his boyhood club was extra special.

The Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts star, who netted his team's second goal in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup final win over Dunbar United, returned to the club this season having first joined them at the age of eight.

He went on to join St Johnstone as a youth player, before having loan spells with Newtongrange Star, hosts of Sunday's showpiece, and Kelty Hearts before joining Tynecastle.

Finnan has subsequently made it back to the Swifts and, although he joked he wasn't sure where he found his glory goal, he was elated to make history in the team's first senior final.

"I must've been about eight when I came to the Swifts, then I left, and I came back," he explained.

"This is my first season back so it's a good first season!

"When you've been there with a boyhood club, you want to come back and do something with them, and we're doing that.

"It's amazing. What a feeling. You can't describe it, can you? Winning a cup, it's not easy, and we've done brilliantly. It's absolutely fantastic."

When asked about his goal, he joked: "I don't know where that's came from to be honest!

"I'm not much of a goalscorer myself but it's good to get on the scoresheet. It was brilliant. I'm absolutely buzzing - there's no other words for it!

"At 2-0, the next goal's crucial. They've came on and scored but we've kept our cool, we've defended well, we've defended in numbers, and we've just done what we've needed to do out there.

"We've held on and a massive shout out to Gibby, the goalkeeper (Michael Gibb). He's totally kept us in it once again. He's been absolutely crucial for us this season. Absolutely fantastic from the big man.

"It's not been an easy path into the final but we've proved we can do it.

"We just need to keep kicking on and do what we're doing."
