FREE-SCORING Dunfermline Athletic Ladies hit double figures in a goal-crazy success on Sunday - but could have had twice the amount.

That's the view of head coach, Charles Dignan, after he watched his team hit ELEVEN goals against Murieston United in the SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) East at Pitreavie.

The Pars were dominant in their 11-2 success, which included Ellis Yeaman claiming the match ball by netting four of their goals, Alex Davie grabbing a brace, and Helen McLeod, who recently joined after spells with Kilwinning, Queen's Park and St. Mirren, scoring her first for the team.

"We dominated as the score would suggest although, with all due respect to Murieston, the scoreline doesn't do us justice," Dignan told Press Sport.

"We could have scored double that amount.

"The goals we lose are poor by our standard, and one comes when we are 6-0 up, and the other when we are 7-1 up, so they by no means put pressure on us, but it is a reminder to stay switched on, think about the passes we're making, and don't give your opponents time or, even worse, time and space on the ball."

The club, meanwhile, have announced news of players who will be remaining with them for next season.

Jodie Simpson, who also found herself on the scoresheet at the weekend, has committed to Athletic, alongside captain Jude Shepherd, vice-captain Davie, Yeaman, player of the match against Murieston, Jodie Barclay, Carolanne Phee and Emily Wyse.

This Sunday, Dunfermline travel to Edinburgh University Thistle, where a victory, combined with a loss for Edinburgh South at league leaders Armadale Thistle, would see them move into third place.
