A TALENTED athlete with Dunfermline Track and Field has played her part in running to a new national record.
Sophie Thomas teamed-up with three other Scottish runners at the recent Loughborough International meet and helped set new national 4x100 metre age group bests.
The prestigious early season meet took place on May 19 at Loughborough University, pitting teams from the hosts against competitors from Scotland, England, Wales, Great Britain and Northern Ireland under-20s, and the National Athletics League.
There were some solid relay performances by those in Scottish vests, but pride of place fell to their women's 4x100m development team, which included Dunfermline star Sophie.

Alongside Tehillah Ikechukwu-Okonkwo (Law and District AC), Emma Clark (Whitemoss AAC) and Kishi Aremu (Livingston AC), they ran in a mixed, guest race, placing third, behind development teams - at the under-20 age group - from Wales and England, who were first and second respectively.
The quartet ran a time of 45.91 seconds, with Sophie running the second leg, at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium to break three record times.
It has become a new Scottish women's under-17 and under-20 best - with the previous mark in the latter age group having been 46.27 - and, once formal paperwork processes are completed, will also be recognised as a British under-18 record.
