PRIMARY pupils from across West Fife stepped onto the crease and showcased their batting and bowling skills last week.
Nine schools entered teams into the Dunfermline and West Fife Sports Council Kwik Cricket Festival, held in conjunction with Dunfermline and Carnegie Cricket Club, last Wednesday.
Held at McKane Park, teams of eight players, consisting of four boys and four girls, were able to enjoy a day of playing the sport having received coaching at their school.
Dunfermline and Carnegie club coach, Paddy Couper, has passed on tips to youngsters at Canmore, Carnegie, Commercial, Dalgety Bay, Duloch, Pitreavie, St John's, St Leonard's and Townhill primaries, all of whom competed on the day.
On a bright, warm day, the pupils enjoyed the festival, which saw St John's finish top of the scorecard in first place, followed by Pitreavie, Carnegie and Dalgety Bay.
Throughout the year, local sports clubs host festivals in partnership with Dunfermline and West Fife Sports Council for primary school pupils, supported by Active Schools Fife.
Any youngsters wishing to continue playing cricket are welcome to attend sessions on Wednesday and Friday evenings, from 6-8pm, at McKane Park.
