ABERDOUR Shinty Club's second team picked up their first win of the Mowi South Division Two season on Saturday.

The Silver Sands outfit travelled to take on Uddingston in their sixth league match of the campaign, and returned home with a 4-1 victory.

A week on from a heartbreaking Bullough Cup second round exit to Kyles Athletic on penalties, after a 4-4 draw, the West Fifers quickly found themselves in the ascendency in this encounter.

Logan Adams gave them a fifth minute lead, which Andrew Fraser doubled after 24 minutes, before Ciaran Burns scored to put them three goals up before the interval.

Joseph Burns added a fourth in the second period and, although Aiden Carlin pulled one back for the hosts, it was mere consolation as 'Dour recorded a convincing success.

The win, coupled with three draws - one of which came at home to Uddingston earlier in the campaign - moves them up to fourth in the table with five points.

They're five adrift of the leaders, Inveraray seconds, who have a 100 per cent record of five wins from five.

'Dour's seconds are on the road again this Saturday as they travel to Rothesay to take on Bute, where throw-up is at 2pm.

Aberdour's first team, meanwhile, will return to action this weekend after a four-week lay-off when they welcome Ballachulish to Silver Sands.

Lisa MacColl's side last played on May 11, in the Balliemore Cup at home to Kilmory, a tie that they lost 4-0.

Saturday's match, which begins at 2pm, will be their first Mowi South Division One encounter since April 20, when Glasgow Mid Argyll claimed a 3-1 win.

Aberdour have two points from their five matches.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Aberdour's ladies were in WCA (Women's Camanachd Association) National Division action at home to Kinlochshiel.

After losing to Lochaber at home in their last match, who sit fourth in the table, they found it tough going against their third-placed visitors, who ran out convincing 13-0 winners.

Aberdour, who are eighth in the 10-team division with two points from nine games, are due to visit fifth-placed Glasgow Mid Argyll on Sunday for a 12pm start.
