ABERDOUR Shinty Club’s junior sections pulled off an unprecedented treble in the Central Scotland Outdoor Leagues.

The development, P4/5 and P6/7 teams took part in three finals over the weekend, each lifting their respective trophy.

First up was the development team, with the club fielding a dedicated Aberdour side and a mixed side with some Edinburgh players.

The home side finished top of their group undefeated, whereas the joint team finished second in theirs, setting up a semi final clash against each other.

Aberdour prevailed and booked a place in the final against Strathkelvin, which head coach Lisa MacColl hailing the team’s efforts.

She said: “All players in both teams gave everything but the experience and age of Aberdour’s team saw them book a place in the final.

“This is a final year in development for Murdo, Connor and Adam and they certainly worked hard this season to improve and bring the trophy home.”

The development team finished their game 3-0, seeing them crowned CSYSA Development Cup champions.

Aberdour Blacks competed in the P4/5 section, which featured a record 10 teams taking part in an A league and B league format.

Aberdour recorded wins against Stirling, Strathkelvin, Glendale and Gaels Reds to finish top of the league undefeated, earning them the title of CSYSA Outdoor League champions.

Last up was the P6/7 squad, who won all five of their games to be crowned undefeated CSYSA Outdoor League Champions.

Lisa added: “We would like to thank Stirling for hosting the event and organising pitches, fixtures and referees.

“To all the Central clubs, thanks for some excellent shinty and lots of close and competitive games and well run tournaments.

“Things go in cycles and it’s been a few years coming but it’s great to see such a dedicated hard working bunch of kids playing for each other and keen to improve.

“The future’s definitely bright in black and white.”
