THIS is the away kit that Athletic's players will be sporting for the upcoming season.

The club have, this evening, released images of the striking new strip, which is set to be worn for the first time during Saturday's Premier Sports Cup tie at Spartans.

In a recent update to supporters, chairman and CEO, David Cook, described the shirt as a "little bit something special" that helps to mark 10 years of shirt sponsorship from SRJ Windows.

Their design, and the all-gold badge, is a nod to kits Dunfermline had in the 1997/98 campaign, with cuffs on the sleeves featuring a design that appeared on the collar of the club's iconic third strip from that season.

It was famously worn when, during the last game with terracing at East End, Craig Faulconbridge wrote himself into club folklore by heading home an equaliser against Celtic, which prevented them winning the Premier Division on Athletic's home turf.

Cook has also been delighted with sales of the home kit, commenting: "The new kit's flying and it's a traditional pinstripe - albeit a double pinstripe. I'm really pleased with how sales have gone with that.

"We launched our training wear, and our pre-match wear as well, and some of the sizes have already sold out, so we're looking at re-ordering. It's a really strong start to that.

"Also very excited that we've got an away kit to launch next week. SRJ Windows have played a big part in that as well, 10th anniversary, so this away kit has a little bit something special that is a nod to that brilliant support we've had from them over a decade."

The club added: "A 90s black and gold icon is reimagined for the modern era.

"A faded black stripe, edged with gold adorn the main body of the shirt and the unmissable gold SRJ front of shirt sponsor celebrates a decade of partnership with the SRJ Windows brand.

"The gold theme continues with a nostalgic throwback seeing the return of the gold version of the club badge, only worn during the late 90s and early 00s.

"The sleeve details tie together the look, taking inspiration from the original collar of the 1998/99 black and gold third kit. A matching gold Errea logo completes the shirt, while we also continue the inclusion of our nod to GMBH Fussball and Living True Sportsmanship on the inside neck line.

"To match the away shirt, black shorts are adorned with matching detailing as seen on the sleeves and will be accompanied with black socks."

The new kit will go on sale tomorrow (Friday) at 10am in the club shop at KDM Group East End Park, and online at www.dafc.co.uk.
