KELTY HEARTS have further bolstered their squad for the upcoming season by completing a double signing over the weekend.

The New Central Park outfit, on Sunday, announced that they have signed former Heart of Midlothian forward, Murray Thomas, and Queen's Park attacker, Scott Williamson.

Twenty-year-old Murray, who was released by the Jam Tarts at the end of the season, has joined on a permanent basis having featured, and impressed, during pre-season with Michael Tidser's squad.

Having made his first-team debut as a substitute in a match at Celtic two years ago, he last season made 24 appearances for the Tynecastle club's 'B' side in the Lowland League, in which they finished runners-up behind East Kilbride.

He has been joined at Kelty by Williamson, who has agreed a loan move until the end of the season from the Championship Spiders.

Since joining them from Cambuslang Rangers in February 22, he has netted four goals in 36 appearances, and had a spell on loan with Kelty's League One rivals, Cove Rangers, last term.

The pair's arrivals follow on from the signing last week of former Motherwell and East Kilbride midfielder, Liam Brown, and takes the number of new additions made by Tidser to 10.

Speaking to Kelty Hearts TV, prior to their opening Premier Sports Cup, Group C outing at Elgin City on Tuesday evening, the 'Maroon Machine' player / manager commented: "I've brought in a wee bit of experience, some young lads as well, and now it's up to them to go and perform.

"It's going to be a long season and we carry it on from last season and just try and get better every year.

"They've all done well. It's important that I was trying to bring in the right quality of player, and who would fit the group as well, so they've all been great.

"I wouldn't mention any individuals but they've all been great. It's just they're going to play their part this season going forward."

Following their match at Borough Briggs, Kelty welcome top flight Hibernian for their second match of their League Cup campaign on Saturday.

A large crowd is anticipated for the glamour game with the Hibees, who will come up against Kelty for the first time, and Tidser is hoping for plenty of backing for his team on the day.

"It's really important, I've said that before," he said.

"That's been nearly five years I've been here, and I think when we played St Johnstone here, and Dundee United, for a player, it just adds that extra buzz for the game.

"I know Hibs will bring a big crowd as well, but it's important we're ready for it.

"Every player will tell you - especially here because it's a tight pitch, and the fans are really close to the pitch - it always adds a better atmosphere, and you probably get an extra wee jag from it."

Scott Allan, another of Tidser's new recruits, is set to face a club he represented over three spells at the weekend, and added:ย "I am really looking forward to it.

"Obviously I've still got a lot of friends there, I obviously played with the manager there, David Gray, who I know really well, so I am looking forward to that game.

"We'll have a good crowd for that one. I know Hibs will bring their fans up as well, so I'm really looking forward to it, and it's a chance to go and show the talent we've got in our team as well."
