A SECOND bid has been rejected by Dunfermline for one of their star players.

Press Sport understands that another offer for Ewan Otoo, from EFL (English Football League) League One outfit Crawley Town, has been turned down by the Pars.

The Sussex-based outfit made an initial attempted to prize the talented and versatile midfielder away from KDM Group East End Park last week, but their advances were rebuffed by club chiefs.

It is believed that Crawley, who were promoted after winning the League Two play-off final against Crewe Alexandra at Wembley, had made an offer of five figures that Athletic deemed to be derisory.

Dunfermline Press:

They are understood to have returned with a further offer earlier this week, but that has also been rejected.

Otoo, 21, signed a three-year contract with Dunfermline last summer after completing a permanent move from Celtic, following a successful loan spell during the 2022/23 League One title-winning campaign.

He made 37 appearances in all competitions for the club last season, and picked up the Joe Nelson Young Player of the Year trophy at their awards ceremony, and has played in both of Dunfermline's Premier Sports Cup matches so far.

Meanwhile, manager James McPake has confirmed that midfielder, Matty Todd, has undergone successful surgery on a fractured collarbone.

The 23-year-old suffered the injury in Athletic's first pre-season friendly, at East Fife, and went under the knife on Monday.

McPake confirmed that the procedure went well, following the match with Forfar Athletic on Tuesday evening, but Todd could face up to three months on the sidelines.

It is another blow for the popular player, who last season reached 100 appearances for the Pars.

After suffering an ankle injury that kept him out from July until November last year, he then picked up a hamstring problem saw him miss further matches between January and February, restricting him to just 21 appearances in all competitions.
