BOARDROOM changes that include the appointment of a new chairman have been announced by Kelty Hearts following their annual general meeting.

George McTrusty, who worked as the club's treasurer during their days in junior football, before becoming their director of finance, has been appointed to the role.

He replaces Tam Rowley, who resigned from his position, as well as that of bar manager, which Kelty said was "with regret".

Mr McTrusty now takes on the position as chairman, with Stuart Mill, a former player with the club who became a director in 2020, becoming vice-chairman.

In a statement on their website, the club noted: "Kelty Hearts Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of George McTrusty as their new chairman and Stuart Mill as their new vice chairman, effective 29th July 2024.

"George brings extensive experience in sports management and business leadership.

"Having held senior managerial positions at various financial institutions, including Clydesdale Bank, Ernst & Young and within the construction industry, he also managed finance teams in London and Edinburgh, including fraud management.

"Previously treasurer at Clackmannan District Sports Council prior to becoming treasurer at Kelty Hearts Juniors FC, and ultimately director of finance at Kelty Hearts FC Ltd, he has been instrumental in driving success both on and off the field.

"His strategic vision and passion for football will be pivotal in steering Kelty Hearts towards new achievements.

"Stuart has a distinguished background in the marine energy industry, having been a key figure in senior and executive management roles within the industry, for over 20 years.

"He has core expertise within project control, cost engineering, commercial management, and contract law in large offshore construction projects.

"He has a long association with Kelty Hearts FC, having played for the club in the 1980s / 90s then, after a number of years working overseas, returning as a club director in 2020.

"His expertise and passion for Kelty Hearts will be invaluable in supporting the club’s ambitions and enhancing its operational excellence."

Addressing Mr Rowley's resignation, Mr McTrusty added: "Following our AGM on 28th July 2024 it is with regret to announce the resignation of Tam Rowley, both as chairman and bar manager.

"Tam has proved a loyal and professional servant to Kelty Hearts over the past few years. He has helped us steer the club through difficult times following the resignation of previous directors.

"Tam is a popular guy and will be solely missed for his patter and comedy actions over his term of office.

"Of course there is always a good lady behind every successful guy. We would also like to thank Morag for her support and work for Kelty Hearts.

"We consider Tam and Morag very good friends and wish them all the best for the future."

The boardroom changes at New Central Park come after it was announced that another former chairman, Ian Thomson, had retired after 47 years of dedicated service to the club.

On the field, Kelty are preparing to begin their third successive season in SPFL League One, Scottish football's third tier, with an away fixture at Montrose this Saturday.
