AARON COMRIE wants to give the Pars fans "something to cheer about" by producing a strong showing in their "massive" clash with Falkirk on Saturday.

The dependable full back has also called on them to back the team in their numbers in a bid to earn bragging rights over their fierce rivals and pick up their first points of the new season.

Dunfermline went down to defeat at Livingston in their Championship opener, and welcome a newly-promoted Bairns side that opened their campaign with three points at home to Queen's Park.

The Pars are unbeaten in their last five meetings with their foes from across the Kincardine Bridge, winning three of them, including their last coming together at KDM Group East End Park.

Dunfermline Press:

A 2-0 win in March 2023, in front of more than 9,000 spectators, went a long way to securing the League One title for Comrie and his team-mates, and he said: "It’s a massive game.

"A couple of years ago now, in that League One season, we did well against them, so hopefully we can find that form again and give the supporters something to cheer about, because there is no better game to do that in. Hopefully we turn up and we can put in a performance.

"The boys are giving everything. I know at times there is a lack of quality and whatever but we need that support from them to keep us going because it is going to be tough. Every game in this league is tough, a big backing next week would be appreciated.

"Hopefully the boys can produce."

With injuries to Kieran Ngwenya and Sam Fisher at Livi, Comrie found himself changing positions to help the side, and had, arguably, the team's best chance to score in the first half.

"We just try and get on with it and try to help the boys," he continued.

"It is not my natural position but, as we have seen, the squad is thin. Wherever the manager has asked me to play I just try to do it the best I can. It is unfortunate for Kieran and Sam going off. Whoever comes in and plays just needs to step up.

"It has been a group that has been together for a couple of years, minus David Wotherspoon and Kieran who have come in, so it is a group who know each other and are always going to have each others back.

"We just need to try and find that bit of luck or whatever to lift confidence and try and get that first win."
