NICOLE YEARGIN is a double Olympic medallist after she claimed a second bronze of the Paris Games last night (Saturday).

The Pitreavie AAC star, who celebrates her 27th birthday today, ran the third leg of the women's 4x400 metre relay for Team GB as they secured third place and a place on the podium.

In a thrilling track finale at the Stade de France, Nicole was handed the baton from Laviai Neilsen, after Victoria Ohuruogu had ran the opening leg, and was in a battle with the Netherlands and Ireland for medal positions, with the United States out in front.

She ran a split time of 49.9 seconds before handing on to Amber Anning, who anchored the team home in third place, behind runaway winners the US, and the Dutch, who claimed silver.

Team GB's quartet set a new British record time of three minutes and 19.72 seconds and Nicole, who was born and raised in the United States, but is eligible to run for Scotland and GB as her mum, Lynn, is from Dunfermline, told scottishathletics: "I am thrilled to win a second bronze medal in the relays.

"I definitely worried myself the first 200m, but I just stuck to my plan, came home strong, and I knew Amber had it, and she did.
