FORMER Swifts boss Jason McCrindle has said it "became a wee bit difficult to continue" in the role after talks between himself and the club.

Last Wednesday evening, after a victory at Kinnoull, the First Division side made the shock announcement that they and the former Luncarty manager had "agreed to part company".

McCrindle had taken charge in November last year, following Jason Dair's departure, but was unable to prevent them from being relegated from the Premier Division.

However, he guided Inverkeithing to their first cup final since their senior team was formed in 2018, in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup, which they won in April against Dunbar United.

Ahead of that final, McCrindle and his first-team coach, Greg Allwood, signed two-year contract extensions, but he left his role after just four games of the new campaign.

Their win at Kinnoull came after an opening day draw at Arniston Rangers, before defeats at Thornton Hibs - which ended their East of Scotland Qualifying Cup defence - and Camelon Juniors.

McCrindle told Press Sport: "We had a couple of conversations and we decided to go our separate ways.

"They've obviously got their reasons and, for myself, it just then became a wee bit difficult to continue with some of the things that were going on.

"It was just a wee bit unfortunate, given we were only three games into the season.

"As a club, they've got a way that they want to run it, and they obviously then want the manager to align into the way that they want to do things, and how they want their manager to manage, which is their choice and their prerogative as a club.

"It just didn't really align in the way that it was perceived, in terms of the conversation we had."

The Swifts have been approached for comment.
