THOUSANDS of spectators were treated to an action-packed weekend of Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship racing at Knockhill - with many hailing it as the best event they've been to.

The prestigious motorsport series made its annual stop north of the border at the iconic West Fife venue on Saturday and Sunday, with home fans able to cheer on Dunfermline-based driver, Ronan Pearson, and fellow Scot, Aiden Moffat.

Knockhill, which is celebrating its 50-year anniversary throughout 2024, also marked 60 years since Fifer Jim Clark won the British Saloon Car Championship by bringing six of his competition cars to the circuit for fans to see.

Three-time BTCC champion, Gordon Shedden, led a parade of the Lotus cars across the Queensferry Crossing on Friday in preparation for the weekend, which also gave one lucky fan the chance to win a passenger ride with him in a £3 million GMA T50 car in aid of Sir Jackie Stewart's 'Race Against Dementia' charity.

Stuart Gray, director of events at Knockhill, said: "It was fantastic.

"We had a great turnout which matched the crowd of 2023. We're delighted because last year was blighted by the weather, with heavy rain, so to get the same crowd was superb. The weather played ball on Sunday too.

"The feedback we've had is probably the best we've had in the 30 years of hosting.

"We've had hundreds of comments on our social media platforms, and emails from all across Britain, with some of them saying it's the best track and event they've ever been to."

Next year's BTCC event at Knockhill has been pencilled in for the weekend of August 16-17, and tickets are set to go on sale within the next 2-3 weeks.

Before then, the next event at Scotland's national motorsport centre will be Supertruck Scotland 2024, which will take place on August 24-25.

We've teamed-up with Knockhill to offer three family tickets, with the choice of which day they'd like to attend, for the event.
