INVERKEITHING Hillfield Swifts hope to announce the appointment of a new manager imminently following the departure of Jason McCrindle.

Last Wednesday, following an East of Scotland League, First Division success at Kinnoull, the club surprisingly announced that they and the former Luncarty boss had "agreed to part company".

McCrindle, who in April signed a two-year contract extension, before leading the Swifts' senior team to their first-ever trophy in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup, replaced Jason Dair in the dugout last November.

He was, however, unable to prevent them from being relegated from the Premier Division on the final day of the season, and they began the current campaign with a home draw against Arnsiton Rangers.

Defeats at Thornton Hibs, which ended their East of Scotland Qualifying Cup defence, and Camelon Juniors followed before the victory at Kinnoull, after which McCrindle and the club parted ways.

He told Press Sport: "We had a couple of conversations and we decided to go our separate ways.

"They've obviously got their reasons and, for myself, it just then became a wee bit difficult to continue with some of the things that were going on.

"It was just a wee bit unfortunate, given we were only three games into the season."

The Swifts, who lost at home to Blackburn United on Saturday, could have a new boss in place ahead of Saturday's South Challenge Cup tie at home to Lesmahagow.

Speaking to Press Sport yesterday (Wednesday) evening, club chairman, Craig Reid, said: "We have commenced the process of finding and appointing a new manager and hope to announce one tomorrow."
