THREE Dunfermline and Carnegie players will take part in a special representative match tomorrow (Sunday) at McKane Park against a side put out by the Lord's-based Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
Taking part in the Fife Under 19 side, which will be captained by Broomhall’s Ieuan Ward, are Dylan Wood, Nikhil Gupta and Arav Dejesh.
Dylan has spent much of this season in the Dunfermline and Carnegie first team, which has been involved in the East of Scotland Division 2 promotion race.
Arav, at the tender age of 14, has been a regular in the club’s 2nd XI which could win the Division 5 title this weekend, and Nikhil has produced some excellent all-round returns in the club’s 3rd XI.
The MCC, who own Lord's cricket ground in London, a ground known as the home of cricket, are keen to encourage cricket development all over the UK.
A spokesman said: “As part of the MCC's drive to promote cricket beyond traditional boundaries, we were delighted to agree to an annual fixture against a Fife Youth Select.
"This will be the first fixture and it will then move on rotation around other clubs in Fife in future years.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Fife’s young cricketing talent to showcase their skills against prestigious opposition.
“We really do hope we can show off the best of Fife cricket and continue to build on our collaborative approach to maximising cricketing opportunities for all going forward.”
The DCCC president, DJ Deenadalayan, commented: “It is tremendous to have three of our young players involved in this prestigious fixture and it should be a great day and we hope for a decent crowd.”
Players from Falkland, Freuchie, Largo, Broomhall and Glenrothes will also be involved.
