ANOTHER disappointing batting performance saw Dunfermline and Carnegie lose to Carlton 3rd XI, at McKane Park, in East Division 2 on Saturday.

On batting first the home side found the slow pitch difficult to score on, but Dylan Wood, skipper Dan Styer and Muhammad Shafiq stuck to their task and got the side heading towards 100.

But a late collapse saw the side fail to bat the full 40 overs.

Chasing only 115, Carlton were aided by some inaccurate DCCC bowling which saw them concede 25 wides and this helped the visitors pass their target with nine overs to spare.

The result leaves Dunfermline and Carnegie needing to win their last game this Saturday, at Drummond Trinity, to clinch a top four spot.

Dunfermline and Carnegie (6) 115, D Styer 29, M Shafiq 28, D Wood 26, S Tekale 4 for 18, M D’Ulisse 3 for 15.

Carlton 3rd XI (20) 116 for 3, S Tekale 36, C Robertson 25, D Styer 2 for 21.

DUNFERMLINE and Carnegie 2nd XI’s hopes of clinching the Division 5 title were dashed on Saturday when they lost by the narrowest of margins to Carlton 4th XI at The Meadows.

On a difficult batting strip the Fifers struggled to score at more than two an over and it needed a good knock by Haider Sultan to get them a defendable total of 123.

Carlton also struggled with the bat against some accurate bowling, but two determined contributions got them over the line, leaving the twos needing a win over Penicuik at McKane Park this Saturday, and Livingston 2nd XI losing to Carlton 4s, to have any chance of taking the title.

Dunfermline and Carnegie 2nd XI (8) 123, H Sultan 29, K Burgess 4 for 23, H Foley 2 for 24.

Carlton 4th XI (20) 124 for 8, A Lang 23, J Gill 22, J Hutton 2 for 10, S Ali 2 for 21, H Sultan 2 for 28.

DUNFERMLINE and Carnegie 3rd XI got their fourth Division 8 win of the season with a convincing performance at The Meadows against Morton 4th XI.

A fine knock by Aby Kurian was the cornerstone of a good score of 165, and Morton never really threatened it with some good bowling by Matty Spiers, Calum Bond and Kurian seeing them dismissed cheaply.

Dunfermline and Carnegie 3rd XI (20) 165 for 8, A Kurian 41, V Arulnathan 22 not out, H Sharma 21 not out, D Forrest 2 for 24.

Morton 4th XI (6) 92, D Singh 20, M Spiers 3 for 12, C Bond 2 for 4, A Kurian 2 for 19.

BROOMHALL were well beaten in their Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union Division 2 game with Kinloch 2nd XI at The Cairns.

No home batter came to terms with the Kinloch bowling and they were skittled for just 75. The visitors lost only one wicket in their chase.
