DUNFERMLINE racing driver Ronan Pearson has reassured fans that his sights are set on the 2025 season following his split from EXCELR8 Motorsport.

He announced that they would be "amicably" parting ways and that he would not be returning for the remaining three race weekends in the British Touring Car Championship.

But Pearson said he is planning to come back for next year's campaign, albeit he'll now have to find another team to drive for.

Sharing the news in a video on social media, he explained: "2025 begins now for me, if it wasn’t already underway.

"I have got a lot of positivity ongoing and it’s a case of building on that.

"For me, this is everything, so I need to focus on what matters, putting myself in a really good position and coming back even stronger."

Pearson joined EXCELR8 in 2023, securing his first BTCC career win at Brands Hatch in May and then going on to win a Jack Sears Trophy win just one month later in June.

In the video he explained: "I think we’re at a timely point where I release something to you personally, to explain my current situation - one that is probably quite unexpected for you all to be listening to right now - but that being that I have made the decision to withdraw from the final three weekends of the 2024 season.

"This comes after amicably agreeing to part ways with EXCELR8 Motorsport. We’ve come to a crossroads in our partnership and it's best for all parties; myself, the team, and all of my incredibly loyal sponsors that have backed me all the way, that we do this.

"I really have to thank everybody at EXCELR8 for giving me the breakthrough opportunity into the BTCC last year.

"We’ve made some incredible memories along the way, I’ve met some really good people.

"There’s been a lot of effort put in by a lot of people each weekend to keep things going, there’s been a lot of career milestones for me as well which has created a really strong foundation for myself and my future, which is why we’re in this position, this is what I’m focused on now."

He continued: "I’ve had a lot of great experience over the 17 weekends that I’ve done to this point and it’s a case of taking all that, channelling it and putting my energy into the right areas.

"I want to thank the team for their efforts, thank all of you for the support, it’s not been an easy journey - especially this year but you’ve been with me through the high and low moments - and for that, I’m really grateful.

"Obviously, for now, it’s a goodbye for 2024 but I will be back, stronger than ever and you’ll hear from me soon."

Pearson was due to return to racing action at Donington Park this weekend.

And as he has split from the team with immediate effect, he will not be getting behind the wheel of the Hyundai i30 Fastback N, this means his last race with the team was at his home circuit of Knockhill.
