THE German investment group that are set to sell their shareholding in Dunfermline Athletic have appointed "an experienced football investment broker" to find a buyer.
DAFC Fussball GmbH are said to be working "collaboratively" with the Pars board of directors ahead of beginning talks with parties who are interested in taking control at the club.
In a dramatic announcement last Thursday, the Hamburg-based group released a statement that outlined their intention to sell their stake, citing their "sadness and regret".
They said that "recent events at the club" had "greatly contributed to their decision", and said that they and "the other directors of the club shall be having discussions on the sale of our stake with some of the many parties who have approached us already over the past years and, of course, in coordination with PUCIC (Pars United Community Interest Company) who are, as of now, still the majority owners of your club".
DAFC Fussball GmbH, who first became involved at KDM Group East End Park in 2020, said that they have "every reason to believe that there will be no shortage of interest in the club", and they have taken another step in their pursuit of a buyer.
In a statement released today - ahead of the match at Hamilton Academical - Dunfermline's Scottish-based board, who were surprised by the decision made by DAFC Fussball GmbH, said: "A week on from the announcement that DAFC Fussball GmbH has decided to put their investment in the Club up for sale, the DAFC Board would like to provide a small update.
"The Board and DAFC Fussball GmbH continue to work collaboratively to take all preparatory steps ahead of dialogue opening with parties who have an interest in acquiring the club. DAFC Fussball GmbH have appointed an experienced football investment broker to lead this on their behalf. We will not be able to comment in much detail during this process as all parties wish for these discussions to be highly confidential.
"On the sporting side, we are really pleased that we have been able to add to the squad this week and we are looking to make further additions ahead of the transfer window closing if we think the players can enhance the group.
"Like you, we are looking forward to the game against Hamilton Academical and know the team will receive brilliant backing through at New Douglas Park."
On Thursday, the Pars completed the signing of goalkeeper, Tobi Oluwayemi, which was followed on Friday by the arrival of midfielder, Josh Cooper.
